Cando hires accomplished leader as new CEO

Cando has hired Brian Cornick as its new Chief Executive Officer, replacing Brent Mills who is transitioning into retirement.

Cando Rail Services, a leading provider of innovative railway support services, today announced the appointment of Brian Cornick as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. In his new role, Cornick is responsible for providing leadership and a long term strategy and vision for Cando and its subsidiaries.

“Brian is an accomplished leader with a vast amount of executive experience,” says Gord Peters, Cando’s President and Chairman of the Board of Directors. “His knowledge in building and sustaining strong teams and external partnerships will compliment Cando’s existing foundation and momentum in positioning the company as a key supplier in the rail industry.”

Cornick’s list of accomplishments is extensive as is his passion to continue learning. After finishing a career in the Canadian Air Force as a Captain, Cornick moved into various leadership positions including vice president roles in operations, corporate services and client services and, finally, as president and CEO of a 2,300 person company whose primary service was managing toll highways in the United States. Most recently, Cornick was consulting with various businesses throughout North America helping them strategically position themselves in the current market.

Cornick is a builder who will bring an entrepreneurial, results-oriented approach to Cando. He replaces previous CEO Brent Mills, who is transitioning into retirement. Cando is a rapidly growing company, and under Cornick’s leadership it will continue to forge ahead to build a business focused on delivering the best services in the rail industry.

Cornick will be based out of Cando’s corporate headquarters in Brandon.
