The Barrie Collingwood Railway (BCRY)

Background

The Barrie Collingwood Railway (BCRY), owned by the City of Barrie and operated by Cando, is a 19-mile shortline that runs from CPKC Interchange at Utopia, ON to Barrie, ON and serves approximately 10 customers with twice weekly service.

Operations

The shortline services a variety of industrial customers with the main commodities being chemicals, lumber, plastics, carbon fibre, and heavy equipment. The shortline provides first mile/last mile services, railcar storage, and supports a vibrant manufacturing and industrial base in the community with multiple development opportunities alongside the track.

The BCRY connects Barrie and surrounding communities to national and global markets. There are pre-zoned, construction-ready sites with development potential adjacent to the rail. Cando and the City of Barrie are actively looking for opportunities to invest in rail infrastructure to support sustainable industrial growth.
